A woman, who has chosen to break through the inhibitions imposed upon her and strives to live the life she deserves, is unstoppable. That is a woman who’s aware of her worth. And she would do everything in her power to break out of the chains holding her down. Such women have been the heroines of so many Fantasy Book Series.

Being a woman myself, I love to read such Fantasy Books, where we get to see their journey.

How they fight against the injustice done to them and do not let the suffering break them. And even if they do break and fall down, they get it all together and stand up again too.

For strength doesn’t mean that you won’t ever break, it means that no matter how broken you are, you’ll face it all with vigor and get back up again.

Not giving up is strength. That’s what I’ve learned from these brave female characters. And there’s still so much more to learn!

It’s so inspiring to read about such resilient women characters who are leaders of their own world in fantasy books.
That’s why I have compiled Four fantasy book series with strong female leads.

1) The Remnant Chronicles
(by Mary. E. Pearson)

The Remnant Chronicles has the prettiest book covers!

The Remnant Chronicles is a Young Adult Fantasy series consisting of three books. The order of the books in the series is,

1) The Kiss of deception
2) The Heart of betrayal
3) The Beauty of darkness

The first book in the series starts with our main protagonist, Princess Lia of Morrighan, running away on the day of her wedding, to escape the arranged marriage with the Prince of the neighboring kingdom whom she has never met. Being the first daughter of her Kingdom, she’s supposed to have a gift but on the day of her wedding she realizes that she does not, and this adds to the reason for fleeing. The rejected Prince then goes to find her and along with that, an assassin is also on an hunt for her. She meets both of them at a village she started her new life at. She has no clue as to who they are or what their motive is. She grows closer to both of them unaware of their true intentions and from there on the web of lies and deception starts.

Let’s talk about Lia, she is a fierce, impulsive, and brave girl. I did not like her or the decisions she took at first. But then as the circumstances got harder, she became tougher. It was fantastic to witness her journey from a scared, runaway girl to an independent and authoritative woman. I loved how she tapped into her inner spiritual self to understand the gift.

Throughout the series, her leadership skills were enhanced more. The magic was not a big part of the story, it’s more politics. And that’s where she thrives in the series. She’s not the typical break-your-bones heroine. She is brave, outspoken, and a natural leader. This quote sums up the series and her journey perfectly!

This world, it breathes you in, sniffs, it knows you, and then it breathes you out again, shares you. You’re not contained here in this single place alone. The wind, time, it circles, repeats, teaches, reveals, some swaths cutting deeper than others. The universe knows. The universe has a long memory.

2)Throne of Glass Series
( By Sarah J Maas)

Throne of Glass series

It’s one of my favorite series with its fabulous world-building, detailed magic system, and badass female lead!

The Throne of Glass series is a YA high fantasy series with 7 books in order,
Book 1: Throne of Glass
Book 2: Crown of Midnight
Book 3: Heir of fire
Book 4: Queen of Shadows
Book 5: Empire of Storms
Book 6: Tower of Dawn
Book 7: Kingdom of Ash

The first book begins with our protagonist, Celena Sardothein, who is an 18 yr old assassin, serving for her past crimes, for a year, in the salt mines of Endovier. She is dragged before the Crown Prince, Dorian of Adarlan. She’s given a chance to her freedom, if she participates as the Prince’s Champion in a competition to find the King of Adarlan’s, new Royal assassin. And from there on the story starts, she takes part in the competition, and discovers the hidden mysteries of the palace. There she fights the evil that’s lurking around, learns about magic, and goes on adventures.

Now let me be honest with you here, the fanarts led me to read this one. So, I was already pretty hyped when I read the first book. But after reading it, I was disappointed and got really confused with the characters and storyline. Later, I wasn’t sure of continuing ahead. But the fanarts made me want to be a part of this world. So, I thought of giving the 2nd book a try, and thank the lord, I read the Crown of midnight! (second in the series).
It’s my 2nd favorite in the series, the first one being the Queen of Shadows (4th in the series).

Accordingly, the whole plot advances, Celena’s character develops beautifully throughout the series. I went from being annoyed by her to loving her to pieces. You’ll be inspired by her character as she fights for the right, faces her demons, unleashes her hidden powers, challenges men and people who have done her wrong. You’ll live her heartbreaking journey of suffering and realizations. It was amazing to read as she makes friends, falls in love, conquers her fears, and embraces her deepest scars to be where she deserves to be.

3) The Shades of Magic series
(by V.E. Schwab)

Shades of Magic series

The Shades of magic is a fantasy Trilogy in the order,

1) The Darker shade of magic
2) A Gathering of Shadows
3) A Conjuring of light

This world has a setup involving four parallel Londons, Red, Grey, White, and Black. The first book follows the story of Kell Maresh, one of the last Antari, the magicians who can travel between these Londons. He meets Delilah Bard, a cross-dressing thief, and our female protagonist, in the Grey London when he’s on an errand, where she tries to rob him. Then she saves him from a deadly enemy and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.

Let me say this first,

We don’t give Delilah Bard enough credit for being the baddest bitch that she is!

Unlike the above characters, I liked Delilah from the beginning. She was unapologetically herself. She yearned for an escapade. There was so much zeal in her for an adventure. After having to fend for herself all her life, she had learned how to be careful and smart.

She was also brave, cunning, audacious, and sometimes violent ….umm ok a lot of times!

This Delilah quote is perfect to define her spirit 😉

I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still.

4) The Six of Crows Duology
(by Leigh Bardugo)

Six of Crows Duology

The very popular Six of Crows is a YA fantasy series with two books in order,
1) Six of Crows
2) Crooked Kingdom

The story follows a thieving crew of six teenagers in the city of Ketterdam, a bustling hub of international trade, who take part in a deadly heist.

Let’s talk about the two brave girls who are a part of this crew, Inej and Nina. I loved them both so much *heart eyes*.

Inej is our beautiful, brave, selfless, and intelligent spy. She is an acrobat and could surely hold her own in fights. She has a lot of self-respect and takes shit from no one. She is also caring, compassionate, and adventurous. I loved how courageous she is in trying to let go of her past and her insecurities.

And Nina, our gorgeous heartrender, a Grisha who can use their power to damage a person’s internal organs.
I believe she is the one holding the team together. She has a great camaraderie with everyone on the crew.

She made me laugh out loud the whole fricking book. She. is. hilarious. Her friendship with Inej and Jesper (her teammate) is so precious!

She is this brave, sassy, selfless, caring, and memorable character. I loved her back story and how she was trying to make things right (you’ll get what I mean). She has good character development too.

In conclusion, such strong female leads make the stories more interesting and unforgettable.

Have you read any of the above books?
