And if you’ve never read one then you should surely give it a try!

That’s why I have brought you a list of 6 amazing Contemporary Romance Books with couples having a heartwarming chemistry between them.

1) The Unhoneymooners
(by Christina Lauren)

Synopsis – Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in . . . well, everything. Her identical twin sister Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meeting with her fiance is something out of a romantic comedy (ugh) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of online contests (double ugh). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man. Olive just has to get through twenty-four hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party – except for Olive and Ethan – gets food poisoning, there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs. Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him becomes a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of . . . lucky.

My thoughts – Olive and Ethan have such humorous banter throughout the book. Even when they are pretending to hate, you will see how much they like each other from the start. On top of that, it’s an attractive and sexy read. The enemies to lovers, fake dating romance is done right here.
If you’re looking for a funny, enjoyable, and alluring read, then this one is for you.

2) Letters to the lost
(by Brigid Kemmerer)

Synopsis – Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother’s death, she leaves letters at her grave. It’s the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn’t the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he’s trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can’t resist writing back. Soon, he’s opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they’re not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

My thoughts – For the YA Contemporary fans, you’ll absolutely love this one! Letters to the lost is such a beautiful, insightful, and touching story.

It is lovely to see how in this book, both Declan and Juliet connect by the means of letters. They find comfort in sharing their grief, knowing they are not alone in this journey. They help each other to cope up with their emotional turmoil. Throughout the book, they open up more by writing letters and try to move on from their bad experiences. Their relationship develops gracefully. It’s not your typical mushy romance but a rather emotional one at that. There is a lot to learn from this book, their conversations and discussions through the letters are enlightening.

“When everything goes to hell around you, the only way to go is forward.”

You’ll love reading this book if you’re looking for a heartwarming, tearjerker romance novel.

3) Get a life, Chloe Brown
(by Talia Hibbert)

Synopsis – Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items?
• Enjoy a drunken night out.
• • Ride a motorcycle.
• Go camping.
• • Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.
• Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.
• • And… do something bad.

But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.

Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.

But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior.

My thoughts – Cutest!!!

Chloe and Redford are so good together. I loved how it is their friendship that helped them both find their own self, and gave them the strength to work on their weaknesses. The plot is really simple but the characters made it memorable. They had the sweetest chemistry. It was enjoyable to read their funny banter and the progress of their relationship. The way they get over their deepest insecurities and fears by leaning on each other. Their conflicts were understandable too and how they worked through them. On the plus side, there are smutty moments too. (wink)

Overall it was a fun and adorable read. So if you’re looking for a contemporary love story with meaningful characters and the cutest moments then this is the one for you!

4) On the Fence
(by Kasie West)

Synopsis – For sixteen-year-old Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, being raised by a single dad and three older brothers has its perks. She can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows—including her longtime neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn’t know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world of makeup, lacy skirts, and BeDazzlers. Even stranger, she’s spending time with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game.

To cope with the stress of faking her way through this new reality, Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with Braden by the fence that separates them. But their Fence Chats can’t solve Charlie’s biggest problem: she’s falling for Braden. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

My thoughts – In this book, Charlie and Braden’s friendship was the basis of their romantic relationship. It was refreshing to read this story, to see the individual progress of Charlie’s character, the family dynamic (particularly the sibling’s camaraderie), and her growing romantic feelings for her best friend/neighbor, Braden. The best friend to lover relationship is done beautifully. Though there are some cliche tropes, it’s still an enjoyable read. On the Fence will make you laugh, cry and feel all the feels! Go for it.

5) The Hating Game
(by Sally Thorne)

Synopsis – Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She’s charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.

Trapped in a shared office together 40 (OK, 50 or 60) hours a week, they’ve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There’s the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can’t let Joshua beat her at anything—especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking.

If Lucy wins this game, she’ll be Joshua’s boss. If she loses, she’ll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she’s got Joshua Templeman all wrong.

Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn’t hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

My thoughts – One of the most popular enemies to lovers book, this was recommended to me a lot. So, when I first started reading the book, I did not get the hype, their conversations were fun but the plot felt ordinary. As this was my first time reading an office romance, it took a while to get familiar with the setup. But as the book progressed I fell in love with Lucy and Joshua’s sizzling chemistry. Their conversations were so amusing. They were really charming together. So, if you’re looking for a funny, hot (very) and memorable, enemies to lovers romance novel, then this one is for you!

6) Beach Read
(by Emily Henry)

Synopsis – A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters.
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast.

They’re polar opposites.

In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they’re living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer’s block.

Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a deal designed to force them out of their creative ruts: Augustus will spend the summer writing something happy, and January will pen the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on field trips worthy of any rom-com montage, and he’ll take her to interview surviving members of a backwoods death cult (obviously). Everyone will finish a book and no one will fall in love. Really.

My thoughts – Wow, I loved January and Augustus together. It was interesting to read about a writer’s process & struggle to find inspiration and write a book. They have an easygoing camaraderie. They help each other activate their creative juices and write on a topic they aren’t familiar with. It was fun to read. Their character growth is good and the relationship development is appealing too. The characters talk about their personal struggles in some emotional moments. But other than that, it’s a light-hearted and adorable read.

So what are you waiting for? Get yourself a cup of coffee, sit on your favorite love seat and pick up any of these beautiful romance books.
